END OF FINANCIAL YEAR APPEAL 2025

This EOFY, your gift can reach to the mountains

In the Rwenzori mountain communities of rural Uganda, healthcare is not just hard to access, it’s non-existent. There are no clinics, health facilities or pharmacies in these remote villages. There are no ambulances, no schools, and few reliable roads. Tens of thousands of people are falling through the healthcare gaps.

When someone falls ill, families have no choice but to travel on foot for several hours, down treacherous mountain paths, carrying sick or injured relatives on stretchers, to reach the MH clinic at the base of the mountains. These journeys are physically demanding, made under difficult conditions, and are often taken too late to save the patient. This is the reality for women in labour, children with high fevers, and elderly patients with chronic conditions - with devastating consequences.

Our clinic in Fort Portal is often the only accessible point of healthcare for these communities. We provide essential medical services — emergency treatment, maternal and newborn care, immunisations, health education, and follow-up for chronic conditions. Our clinic plays a vital role, not just in treating illness, but in creating a link between isolated communities and the wider health system.

The determination of these families is why our work doesn’t stop at the clinic doors. Through our community programs - particularly our prevention care program - we travel back up the mountains to support, train and strengthen local capacity, impacting tens of thousands of lives.
